While the role of diet in Crohn’s & Ulcerative Colitis is currently unclear, it is POSSIBLE that avoidance of emulsifiers and highly processed carbohydrates such as maltodextrin could be helpful in preventing disease.  However until further studies are done, clear recommendations for patients cannot be made.   1. Hello Dr. Ganguli. I just listened to the 20 minute video from the British Doctor and I fully agree with his comments and recommendations. My health has dramatically improved since adopting a plant based diet and my Chrohn’s symptoms are in remission and have been that way for a long time. I find it difficult to understand as a lay person without medical training to hear that highly educated doctors from the gastroenterology community are sometimes not willing to adopt and recommend a plant based diet to their patients. I hope more documented research will help to encourage the medical doctors to put their patients on a plant based diet. Thank you for the resources provided on your website and for your good care as my doctor. You and have changed the quality of my life by helping me to find a way to keep my disease under control.
